Privacy Policy

Start Different is a ministry initiative operated by SuNise & Co, a Minnesota general partnership owned by Sue Scheid and Denise Nelson. In this Privacy Policy, “Start Different,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to this ministry initiative and its operator, SuNise & Co.

This policy covers both the Start Different™ 40-Day Challenge and any optional SuNise & Co. apparel and product communications you choose to receive.

We collect only the information needed to deliver the Start Different™ 40-Day Challenge, administer parent or guardian approval, understand basic participation, and provide requested leader resources.

What we collect

Name, participant role, age group, delivery preference, and the email address and/or mobile number you choose to give us. School, church, organization, and prayer responses are always optional.

Email and SMS messaging program

The 40-day program may deliver recurring email and SMS devotional messages, plus limited registration or administrative messages. Message frequency varies and may be up to one message per day during the challenge. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe from SMS, or reply HELP for assistance. SMS consent is optional and is not a condition of purchase; providing a mobile number alone is never treated as SMS consent.

Mobile information and SMS consent are not sold or shared with third parties for unrelated marketing, and no mobile opt-in information is shared for third-party marketing purposes.

Service providers

Information may be shared with service providers, including Klaviyo, our email and SMS delivery platform, when necessary to operate and deliver the messaging program. These providers may use your information only to perform services for us.

Consent records

Email and SMS consent records may include timestamps, the version of the disclosure you accepted, the exact disclosure text presented, the source page or link used to register, and opt-out activity. We keep these records to demonstrate that consent was given knowingly and to honor opt-outs.

Young participants

We do not collect a full birth date. We do not collect the direct email address or mobile number of a child under 13; those registrations are delivered to a parent or guardian. Optional apparel and product marketing is never sent directly to a participant under 18 — it is offered only to a parent or guardian.

How we use it

We use your information only to send the communication you requested and to support the movement. Prayer responses are never published and are never used for advertising personalization. We do not sell or share participant information for third-party advertising.

Optional SuNise & Co. marketing

Consent for the 40-Day Challenge is kept separate from consent for optional SuNise & Co. apparel, collection announcements, and promotional messages. Choosing not to receive marketing never affects your challenge messages, and you may opt out of either one independently at any time.

Shopping with SuNise & Co.

Start Different™ apparel is sold on the SuNise & Co. website, which is hosted on Shopify. When you follow a shop link you leave this site, and any purchase information you enter there is handled under the SuNise & Co. store policies. We do not receive or store your payment details.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from email at any time using the link in any message, and you can reply STOP to any text message to stop SMS delivery.
